Capsula Mundi

Officially recognised aligned project within Aetheric Renovation

A living approach to what comes next. Trees instead of headstones.

A different way of thinking about remembrance, return and what we leave behind.

A person returns to the earth. A tree rises from that place. Life continues.

The idea

A memorial that can grow.

For most of human history, returning to the earth was understood as part of a cycle. Capsula Mundi asks whether the place where a life ends could also become the place where new life begins.

The idea is simple, and old. A person returns to the earth. A tree is planted above that place. Remembrance becomes connected with living growth instead of standing only as a monument apart from it.

On the project’s own terms, Capsula Mundi is an egg-shaped form made of biodegradable material, buried like a seed. A tree, chosen in life, is planted above it. Family and friends can continue to care for that tree as it grows.

A memorial then changes with the seasons. It can offer shade, habitat, beauty, and a place for later generations to visit. We belong to the world rather than standing above it.

From monument to living memory

What if a cemetery could become a forest?

This is an invitation to imagine another possibility. It is not an argument against existing traditions of remembrance.

A familiar image

Stone holds a name in place.

Many cultures mark a life with something that does not move. That stillness can be dignified, clear, and deeply loved. Nothing here asks anyone to abandon it.

Another image

A tree holds a name in season.

Rows of stone could, in another vision of remembrance, become trees. Birthdays could be marked beneath branches. Children could visit somewhere alive. Birds could nest there. Leaves could return every spring.

Memory would not disappear. It would grow.

The cycle

Nothing stands outside the living world.

What falls becomes soil. What becomes soil feeds roots. What feeds roots rises again toward the light.

The original vision

The full-size Capsule

The purest expression of the idea is the full-size human burial Capsule: a larger egg-shaped form in which a body could rest in a fetal position, buried like a seed beneath a living tree.

Returning whole to the earth beneath a living tree.

The full-size human burial Capsule remains a concept at present. It cannot currently be purchased or used for burial.

Capsula Mundi have explained directly to ARC that the challenge is not simply manufacturing a larger egg. Bringing the full-size concept into reality would require an entrepreneur or investor prepared to support its development, alongside the wider services, infrastructure and legal framework required. In Italy specifically, existing laws would also need to change.

Legal arrangements vary from country to country. This page does not describe the full-size Capsule as available, approved, or in use.

Capsula Mundi today

Biodegradable urns as a first living step.

Capsula Mundi currently produces biodegradable urns. The urns were developed after strong public interest from people who wanted to see the concept begin to exist in the real world.

They are a practical first step toward the broader idea: ashes held in a smaller egg-shaped form, returned to the earth, with a tree planted above.

Current products, materials, availability and any official guidance belong on Capsula Mundi’s own site. This page does not list prices or present ARC as a seller.

Public presentation

The concept has been shown as a physical object.

This photograph shows a physical presentation of the Capsule. It is a presentation of the idea, not a product listing.

The full-size human burial Capsule remains a concept at present. It cannot currently be purchased or used for burial. Legal arrangements vary from country to country.

Why this is here

Why it resonates with Aetheric Renovation

A person returns to the earth. A tree rises from that place. The tree carries life forward. Seeds fall. New life begins. Nothing stands outside the cycle.

That sequence is why Capsula Mundi belongs in the ARC ecosystem. Not as a product on these shelves. As an idea that makes Eco over Ego visible in one of the most human places of all: how we remember the dead.

Aetheric Renovation is drawn to work that favours regeneration over extraction, living systems over monuments to separation, and continuity over the story that we stand above the world that made us.

Nature. Continuity. Human connection. Leaving something better behind. A tree planted as remembrance does not need mysticism to carry those themes. It only needs soil, time, and care.

Roots below. Branches above. Memory between them.

Official alignment

Capsula Mundi × Aetheric Renovation

Following direct conversation between the two projects, Capsula Mundi has welcomed its introduction as an officially recognised aligned project within Aetheric Renovation.

The relationship begins with shared values, respectful representation and helping more people encounter the idea.

Capsula Mundi and Aetheric Renovation share a strong philosophical alignment around regeneration, nature, remembrance and humanity’s relationship with the Earth.

Both projects recognise a common principle:

Human beings are part of nature, not separate from it.

This is not a commercial partnership, sponsorship, endorsement agreement, reseller arrangement or formal corporate partnership. Capsula Mundi remains Capsula Mundi’s work. ARC provides a place where the idea can be understood.

The possibility ahead

What would it take to make the original vision real?

Capsula Mundi have explained that the full-size project would require more than manufacturing. It would involve investment, development, services, infrastructure, regulation and the right people working together.

Some ideas are waiting not for invention, but for the conditions that allow them to exist.

Aetheric Renovation is not funding the Capsule, not developing it, and not promising a date. We believe the conversation is worth keeping alive.

A forest of memory

One tree remembers one life. A forest can remember thousands.

Imagine places of remembrance that become richer in life with every generation. Not places removed from nature. Places reclaimed by it.

Capsula Mundi speaks of cemeteries acquiring a different look: woodlands instead of only a grey field of markers. That remains a vision. It is offered here as a philosophical image, not as a measured environmental claim.
